Importance of Professional Wedding Day Makeup: Maine Wedding Photographer

The importance of professional wedding day makeup from a photographers point of view :)

I am not a makeup pro like Kimberly Collins-The Makeup Diva, but I do work with her frequently and I have seen the differences between professional makeup and DIY makeup.  This post is going to bullet some huge benefits to having it done professionally.

1.  ”I’ll do it myself because I know what looks good and what I like”

Most makeup artists will do a trial run and or consult with you ahead of time about what would look good and what you want for a look.  They are just that–they are professional.  They know all different types of faces and tricks–they were educated to do this.  Sometimes what we think looks good is just because it is what we are use to and what we know.  A great makeup artist would never make you look entirely different on your wedding day, but she or he would make you look amazing for the photos.  They will map out what color choices are right, and figure out what the best lash line is for you.

2.  ”Its too expensive”

You are spending money on the food, the photography, the dress, flowers, etc.  In order for the photos to capture you looking the most radiant you will ever look you should spend the money!  It is expensive to acquire the proper tools and equipment to be in business.  Professional services come at a price.  You wouldn’t let just anyone work on the plumbing in  your house would you?  This is no different.  The photos are a different world when a professional does the brides makeup.  They even use the proper foundation for the perfect photo finish.

3.  ”It will be to dramatic”

It is good to go a little heavier than you might normally on the wedding day.  The camera loves just a little more lashes than usual, and a shadow that will bring out your eye color in your close ups.  A professional makeup artist would never go to far, and never do something you don’t like.  They will find the perfect match between your everyday look, and your wow factor for wedding day.

4. “It takes to much time”

Professionals generally bring a team with them that they work with often, know, and trust.  This allows them to do multiple faces, and or balance their time appropriately.  They also do this every weekend so they know exactly how much time to budget for the bride, and they work very efficiently as they are super familiar with their tools and techniques.  While you are becoming radiant the photographer often has time to grab the details, rings, flowers, dress, invitation etc.  We love professional makeup and know that each art (both photography and makeup) must allow for the proper amount of time.

5.  ”My friend is really good at makeup–I’m just going to have her do it”

While your friend may do a wonderful job on herself and nights when you go out.  This is your wedding day.  This is a day when you don’t want to stress your friends or family out.  This is a day when you don’t want to worry about anything.  Leave it to the professionals.  Again not only do they have the right look for your special day picked out, they also have the proper timing, and bring a confidence that allows other people to get ready at the same time you are and not have to worry about who is doing the brides makeup and how.  Pamper yourself, it is worth it!

Steamy Engagement Session: Maine Wedding Photography

I have always loved the ads for Ralph Lauren’s perfume Romance….so I took this opportunity to try it myself.  It was a lot of fun to create these hot and steamy images, I recommend trying it out!  The chemistry between you is documented, and you look great!  Don’t say “I don’t have the body for it” all types are beautiful and much of it is in the facial expression!  Its easy…just interact while I move about and take pictures :)

Disclaimer: While these two make it look easy, it would be even easier for engaged and married people because these guys are just good friends.  He is actually an actor in FL and she is a model here in ME.
