About Patricia
A little about me…
One of my earliest memories is getting off the school bus at the farm and getting to milk this tame, big, old white cow we called “Goat.” Eventually, because of the economy my parents had to sell the dairy farm. What I have left….are my memories and my photos. Photos of myself with my favorite cow; my dad and I out mowing the fields; my mom and I sitting on the old bus seat next to the barn drinking water from the hose while we waited for the next load of hay. Those photos bring back my memories of the way the molasses grain smelled, the sound of Hanson singing in the background while I did my chores, and the prickly feeling when I jumped in the hay bales. I can get lost in these photos just like reading a good book.
On your first, tenth, twentieth, even fiftieth wedding anniversaries what will you cherish? You’ll cherish the moments of that day. The images that allow you to feel the way you did when you married each other. Images that show the nervousness you felt while you stood waiting to walk down the aisle, the way your new husband smelled while you nestled into him during your first dance, and the delicious taste of the frosting on the cake when you licked your fingers after cutting the cake.
Life is a story and it is told with moments, interactions, and emotions. I am a storyteller. I tell stories through images that show relationships, passion, and laughter. I believe in romance, soulmates, and true love. My goal is for everyone to see how “made-for-each other” you two are and truly in love. I show your story from your mom buttoning your dress, your fiancée seeing you for the first time, the delicious gummy bears on your candy table (one of my favorite parts) to your supportive friends and family seeing you off with sparklers. Your wedding day will go by so quickly…my images save those slices of life for later so you can savor them together for years to come.
I hold a BA from the University of Southern Maine and have studied photography at workshops and seminars throughout the country with internationally-acclaimed wedding photographers. I began photographing weddings in 2007 with a prominent New York City wedding photographer. Upon returning to Maine in 2008 I continued to pursue my dreams of photographing weddings and started my own photography business.
People often ask me what “Kivalo” means….Kivalo means “outstanding” in Hungarian. I am a first generation American and wanted my business name to reflect my family history. The tulip was used in Hungary throughout history on wedding garments and in traditional wedding ceremonies. My father and I always stamped tulips into our art when I was younger and the tulip just seemed like the perfect branding for Kivalo Photography.
